The Good Design Award was established in 1957. It is the only comprehensive design evaluation and commendation award in Japan. The award has honored "Good design" which has enhanced quality of life, industries and society for over 50 years.
 

The project, launched in 1998, is organized by Japan Industrial Designers' Association (JIDA). With the theme of "Toward a beautiful, affluent life,” the project selects and awards high-quality products whose industrial design will contribute to society. Its mission is also to collect and store these products to leave them to the next generation with the aim of making cultural contributions to areas of education, industry, and lifestyle.

The iF Design Award is one of the prestigious awards organized by the International Forum Design in Hannover, Germany since 1953. The best designs are awarded for product design, Communication design and Package design.

This international award has been organized by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen institution since 1955. The award categories are Product design, Communication design and Concept design. All entries are judged based upon innovation, functionality, and quality.

The International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) is an award program previously co-sponsored by BusinessWeek magazine, and in 2010 Fast Company magazine and the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). IDEA "is dedicated to fostering business and public understanding of the importance of industrial design excellence to the quality of life and economy".
